A SUBTLE, BUT SUPER-PRETTY PARTY MAKEUP TUTORIAL TO TRY THIS WEEKEND

Shimmery but understated.
by

Beauty tutorials are big on YouTube — a search for "makeup tutorial" and "hair tutorial" yields more than five million videos. In this weekly series, we put a mix of popular and under-the-radar tutorials to the test and show you what's best.
Something became clear during a recent conversation with my fellow Fashionista editors: Plenty of us have our everyday makeup routine down to a science, but when it comes time for a party or special occasion of some kind and we want a little more of a lewk, we're uncertain. The obvious thing to do would be to reach for one of our favorite lipsticks, but anything beyond that seems daunting. Beauty blogger Cat Matthews is here to help with a "Glam Party Makeup!" video tutorial (you can tell it's a fun and adorable video because she uses both the word "glam" and an exclamation point in the title).
"I think this makeup would be perfect if you're going to a fancy dinner or party," she says of the look, a glimmery, warm smoky eye with bronze tones and a matte, pale-brown lip. Watch the full video above to see every step involved in getting it (hint: she relies mainly on her fingers — not complicated brushes —for the eye look), as well as the blogger's momentary freak-out when a rainbow appears outside her window. Adorable.

HERE ARE TWO REALLY PRETTY WAYS TO WEAR BROWN LIPSTICK

As demonstrated by Priyanka Chopra and Joan Smalls.

Brown lipstick isn't exactly a new. See: the entirety of the '90s. But that doesn't mean it's not majorly trending right now. And October is the perfect time to experiment with warm, chocolaty variations on the hue, as actressPriyanka Chopra and model Joan Smalls each so flawlessly demonstrated this week. Both paired it with minimal eye makeup, glow-y skin (a trait it seems impossible for either of them to ever not have) and expertly groomed brows.
Chopra's take on the trend, shown above, relied on a Tom Ford lipstick with a creamy finish that's neither fully matte nor glossy (makeup artist Stephanie Barnes, who created the look, has yet to divulge the exact shade; we've reached out to her to try and find out). It's a cool, plum-tinged mocha that — it has to be said — looks seriously gorgeous on her.

I'm Stealing Cara Delevingne's 'Suicide Squad' Premiere Makeup Look Even Though I Have Nowhere to Wear It

by
Too bad Lisa Eldridge can't do it for me.

The highly anticipated movie Suicide Squad has finally hit theaters. I wasn't particularly looking forward to seeing the movie, to be honest. But in my various social media feeds, I started noticing that Cara Delevingne's makeup was looking pretty damn good all the time recently. (She plays Enchantress in the film.)
This all made a lot of sense when I found out she has Lisa Eldridge with her for all these Suicide Squad promotional events. And for the world premiere, Lisa gave Cara an almost editorial look: a smudgy, sparkly gunmetal eye paired with a bold red lip.

CHANEL LE ROUGE COLLECTION N°1

by THEFASHIONGUITAR

I would like to start by saying that any time spend with Chanel, is time perfectly well spend. So there’s not much that tops being invited by the Chanel Beauty team to come along to London for the presentation of Lucia Pica’s – Chanel’s new Global Creative Make-up and Color Designer – debut collection: Chanel Le Rouge Collection N°1.
As Gabrielle Chanel once said “Red is the color of life, of blood, I love red” and Lucia Pica completely shares these passionate feelings about the color red… “I am obsessed by the color red,” says Pica. “For me there is strength and emotion, warmth and disruption in the color red.” And while walking through different rooms where she showed us a collection of incredible photographs, capturing the theatrical and sensorial elements of life, I could feel this true love for the color. “I really wanted to explore the meaning of color and what is behind it. There is an idea of the symbolism of red and a red undertone runs throughout the collection.”
Not only was I very much impressed by the creative process that comes with the actual creation of a collection as such, I also started to fall in love with her as a person. So refreshing how she was telling us about her debut collection for Chanel with her beautiful French accent and that sweet smile. I mean, wow, what an inspiring woman!
In a variation of tones, textures and finishes, carefully applied on three angelic model faces, Lucia Pica revealed the many facets of the iconic shade and the expressive palette she created for face, lips, cheeks, and eyes.
Of course after hearing all about it, it was time to try the new line on our own faces. And with a little advice from Lucia Pica herself, I went for the copper eye cream with dark red eye-liner, and a dark lip. In fact the darkest lipstick in this palette – who would have thought that could look so hot!

5 Must-Have Products for Your Makeup Bag

Some products are necessities in any girl's makeup bag. Here are five of my favorites.

I'm a bit of a makeup hoarder. I'm always trying new things, and I fall for amazing product reviews pretty easily. It's a hard habit to break!
However, I do have products that I consistently use and repurchase over and over again. The five beauty products listed below are the ones I've been using for years, and they have never failed me. Some are high-end and others are drugstore brands, but they're all my must-haves. Read on to learn what they are.

5 Sparkly Looks to Master with Urban Decay's Moondust Eyeshadow Palette

This new formula is a force to be reckoned with!

When I went to Disneyland weekly — thanks to my SoCal Resident Annual Pass, the one thing I miss the most about California — I'd annoy my friends with the same game while waiting online for rides. It went something like this: If you were a ________, what would you be? For example, if you were a flavor of ice cream, what would you be (I'm dark chocolate cherry, obviously), or if you were a school supply, what would you be (clearly those awesome-smelling rainbow Mr. Sketch markers). This game was never about what you personally liked, but rather how your friends saw you and how you saw yourself.
My favorite question (that I would ask my more cosmetically inclined friends) was this: if you were a makeup brand, what would you be?
Without hesitation, I'd always claim Urban Decay. Between the glitter, theneons, the grittiness, and the rebel vibe, Urban Decay is my soulmate. I have more shadows from them than from any other brand. Their primer was the first product I ever picked up at a Sephora. My original Naked was the first full palette I'd ever owned, and I hit pan on pretty much every shade. TheElectric Palette has been my right hand since its release in 2014.
And the new Moondust Palette is quickly becoming my latest bestie.

Cleaning Makeup Brushes

by

At the top of the list of things I like to put off resides cleaning my makeup brushes. 1. it's not very fun and 2. it can be time consuming. BUT I've found some things that make cleaning my brushes not as bad. the first is this little blue brush cleaner, you just put the soap on your brush and then swirl it around on this little magic piece of rubber and somehow all the dried on makeup comes right off your brush, heaven right? In addition to the little blue brush cleaner, I love using this dawn foaming dish soap. I've tried tons of different cleaning solutions and this hands down works the best. It breaks up the makeup fast and leaves the brushes feeling soft.  I also use this soap to clean my jewelry.
