LALALAND AND MERYL ARE DOMINATING THE 2017 OSCAR NOMINATIONS

City of stars...looks like the Hollywood gods are smiling upon Lalaland this Oscar season! Also: Meryl Streep. 

The nominations are rolling in as we type, and it's looking like a big day for everyone's favourite Ryan Gosling / Emma Stone fronted musical. With 14 nominations, it's the most nominated musical of all time (sorry Mary Poppins). 

Speaking of most nominations...Meryl Streep just got a nod for her work in Florence Foster Jenkins, which just made her the most nominated person in Academy Award history.

So when I saw these stars rocking their natural textures and voluminous styles, I was inspired to put away my blowdryer and flatiron and let my naturally frizzy, curly hair go free.

One problem: I had absolutely no idea how to manage my hair. I had my unruly curls chemically straightened at age 14, and since then, I’ve had every Brazilian blowout, relaxer and keratin treatment that you can get, and I’ve worn my hair in its natural state for no longer than two days at a time before giving into the temptation of a smooth blowout. But earlier this year, I forgot to book an appointment for my routine keratin treatment, and accidentally allowed my hair to revert to its original texture — something that I haven’t truly known since I was a freshman in high school.

Consider it fate that Ciara has just been named the newest spokeswoman for Revlon–she was named after the Ciara by Revlon perfume from 1973, a gift her father gave her mother before she was born.

"I think my mom was putting it into the universe," she tells WWD. "Your name will be Ciara and one day you will have a Revlon campaign." Far-fetched? Yes. But considering Ciara is consistently one of our biggest beauty inspirations, the news is no less exciting.

Like most of the fashion world, we love Cate Blanchett. Also like most of the fashion world, we love Gucci — specifically with Alessandro Michele at the helm. So when these two forces of nature came together, it was nothing short of fashion magic. See what we mean, above, where the actress/demi-goddess wore the designer at the IWC Gala Dinner in honor of the British Film Institute.

The dress is simple, but not the least bit boring; it features a pretty, ivory bodice with exaggerated, sculptural shoulders and deep V-neckline, a long black skirt and, tying it all together, a crimson sash that was a near exact match to the red carpet below. However, this dress isn't just any dress plucked from a sea of red carpet offerings. Jennifer Lawrence is Once Again Hollywood’s Highest Paid Actress

Let’s start with the good news: According to Forbes, Jennifer Lawrence has been named the highest paid actress of 2016 for the second consecutive year.

The 26-year-old actress brought $46 million pre-tax, thanks to the final installment of her mega-hit franchise The Hunger Games, and up-front fees fromPassengers, which co-stars Chris Pratt. As in 2015, Lawrence is also the youngest ranked on the list of top 10 actresses.

Coming in second was Ghostbusters starMelissa McCarthy, who cashed in #33 million. McCarthy was followed by Scarlett Johansson, who takes the third slot at $25 million, as the highest-grossing actress of all time.

The list rounds out with two international movie stars, with China’s Fan Bingbing nabbing the fourth slot and Deepika Padukone closing the list at number 10.

Now for the not so good news: Even though Lawrence killed it this year, she only ranks number 49 overall on the list of top earning stars. Six actors­—including Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise, Matt Damon, Dwayne Johnson, Jackie Chan and Kevin Hart—rank ahead of her.

In its round-up, Forbes notes 90 per cent of ranked actresses depend on endorsement deals to “supplement their on-screen earnings.” It’s something Lawrence is familiar with, and a topic she spoke openly about in a recent Lenny Letter essay she wrote about the gender pay gap in Hollywood.

“When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with dicks, I didn’t get mad at Sony. I got mad at myself. I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early,” she wrote in the piece entitled Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars?.

Can Lawrence rank even higher next year? We think the odds are forever in her favour.

Taylor Swift has once again proved that she is the queen of athleisure, this time, stepping out in N.Y.C. in Alo 'Coast' mesh-panel leggings ($94; nordstrom.com), a black tank top, and bright yellow sneakers. The "Shake It Off" singer accessorized with a small black cross-body purse, minimal make up, and mirrored red sunglasses, with her short blond hair in a natural blowout.

The country star turned pop star is back in New York City following her summer travels with boyfriend Tom Hiddleston to Australia, plus some time spent in her houses in Los Angeles and Rhode Island. And she seems to have made a return of the sartorial kind, too: Of late, Taylor's been sporting her old girly-girl style, with plenty of crop top and skirt ensembles and even her hair in its naturally curly state.

Emily Ratajkowski's Greece Vacation Is Seriously Stunning
