Dressing in a way that feels light and feminine in the dead of winter is no easy task, with lots of thick layers and dark colors being the go-to for most people. But Elle Fanning isn't most people, as she showed us by embracing winter pastels with gusto while attending a lunch celebrating films powered by women at Sundance Tuesday.
The soft hues of Fanning's pink Max Mara coat and light blue button-up shirt were fresh in a way that made us wish spring were closer, as was the minimal makeup highlighting her naturally fair coloring. But her heavy black pants and lace-up Christian Louboutin heeled boots added the warmth and practicality that kept the outfit from feeling out of place in January. Perhaps her most impressive feat? Balancing the quirky little-girl feel of the big neck bow with the grown-up, oversized fit of the coat. Kudos also go to her stylist, Samantha McMillen. This is a look worth repeating, regardless of the season.
